FMO

The Federation of Manufactured Home Owners of Florida, Inc., (click here for FMO website) is a statewide, consumer advocacy association dedicated to protecting the rights and interests and enriching the lifestyles of manufactured home owners. Formed in 1962, the FMO has a membership of approximately 15,000 manufactured home owners. FMO operates with more than 1,000 volunteer officers from around the state who serve members by answering questions, assisting with problems, organizing district meetings and workshops, and linking them to the Board of Directors and the administrative staff at the Largo business office.

In 1962, the St. Petersburg City Council planned to enact an ordinance mandating that mobile home owners install tie-downs, a very expensive proposition then. Peggy Johnstone, upset by the impending mandate, contacted fellow mobile home owners and, on March 26th, 77 communities came together to defeat the ordinance. The FMO was founded that day with a clear vision in place: protect the interests of manufactured/mobile home owners in Florida.

We encourage all home owners to join the FMO because it is the only organization in the State of Florida that protects our interests as mobile home owners renting from private and often non-resident corporate owned mobile home parks. FMO memberships cost just $25 a year; but if you’d like to take advantage of their best value, consider a 3- year membership for $65.

FMO meeting are held monthly and all FMO members are invited to attend and learn about what is happening in the industry, and at our neighbouring parks.

Lakeland Interpark Council

The LIC is a common interest group which meets periodically to share information, to coordinate interpark actions and activities, and to utilize our combined numbers and knowledge in a manner that will promote improved living in our senior-adult manufactured-housing communities. The Lakeland Interpark Council consists of over 20 mobile home communities in and around the Lakeland, Florida area, and regualr monthly meetings are hosted at member parks throughout the year to aid communities in keeping their residents informed on conditions that may or may not benefit their lifestyles'. We encourage WBE members to attend these meetings to become educated about what is happening in the parks in our area that could have ramifications for all of us.

Residents will be informed of the time and location of upcoming meetings, with anouncements made at the Tuesday morning coffee sessions and at HOA board meetings.
