Scrap Metal and Newspaper Recycling
Low commodity prices have rendered our metal recycling program uneconomic. Therefore, residents must not deposit metal or any scrap items behind the can shed, by the pond, until advised otherwise.
The volunteers ask the cooperation of residents as follows:
Metal can recycling: Please drop off your aluminum beverage cans at the Can Shed by the pond, placing them in one of the containers provided. Volunteers crush the cans by machine so please do not hand-crush them in advance as that can jam the machine. It is not necessary to wash empties, however, the volunteers would appreciate residents ensuring that recycled cans are empty. Tin food cans, bottles and plastics are NOT to be placed in these containers. Those items must be recycled through your blue box.
Discarded Appliances: Can be left out for Large Trash Pick up on Tuesdays. Twice a year, you can have large trash pick up as part of your regular trash pick up. Remove the doors to refrigerators for safety.
Aluminum Siding, Windows and Doors: See above for large trash pick up.
Newspaper Recycling: Please drop your newspapers into the large bin by the Can Shed. Please do not place cardboard, plastic bags or other non-newspaper related materials into that bin.
